Tournaments start at safe light until 3:00 pm weather permitting.
How much is the entry fee for each tournament?
Tournament entry fee is $20 per boat or $10 per person. Typically the non-boater pays for the boater’s portion of the entry fee to help defray the boater’s gas expenses, etc. for the day. There is also an optional “BIG BASS of the Tournament” pot that cost $5 per person.
How does BB conduct the weigh-in?
Tournament partners fish as a team and combine each other’s five largest fish as measured on the Golden Rule-WeighMaster to determine tournament weight. The first place team splits 70% and the second place team splits 30% of the day’s entry fees.
What is the Golden Rule-WeighMaster and why does BB choose this method for weigh-in?
The Golden Rule-WeighMaster is a measuring board that uses the length of the fish to “scientifically” determine a corresponding weight for the fish without actually weighing the fish. The “Golden Rule” allows for the fish to be measured while out on the water, quickly released and the corresponding weight recorded on the tournament weigh-in slip. This system promotes the safety and health of the fish by immediately returning the fish to the water. This is especially beneficial to the fish during the hot summer months. Another benefit is that it allows slot-fish or fish under the lake minimum length to “count” as part of your tournament weight. All your fish has to be is 10 inches on any lake to count in a BB tournament.
